Book of Commom Prayer, The. Oxford, Printed at the University Press, 1852, 150 x 100. Original fine binding by Hayday. The binding is full purple morocco leather, the upper and lower boards elaborately stamped in gilt with outer gilt panels enclosing a double inner gilt panel with complex fleuron devices in gilt at the corners, spine elaborately gilt in six compartments with raised bands, gilt lettering to the second compartment, board edges encased in gilt metal with the hinged metal clasp and catch intact and in working order, inner gilt dentelles, the binders stamp of 'Hayday' to the inside lower edge of the upper board, pages all edges gilt. The front free endpaper bears the blind stamp of the 19th century booksellers Prichard Roberts & Co of Chester.
