An army of evil clowns from the dead takes over a small town and begins systematically killing all the inhabitants. Except for two of the older residents, George and Louise, are retired killers from the CIA, and fight back. Red clowns and blue clowns are doing the killing, and they are also at war with each other, under the direction of the Supreme Clown. Hiding out in the feed store, they discover two hideaways that joint in the fight. But one of them isn?t what she seems. This is how it begins::
George pulled back the curtain and saw that the snow-covered street was clear. No sign of any clowns. He let the curtain fall back into place and whispered, All clear.
All the doors in the house were locked, and the lights were turned off. They didn?t want to be noticed; they suspected that would be a death sentence. All the curtains in their house were closed, too, and they held their breath at every strange noise.
False alarm, whispered George to his wife, Louise.
Oh, she said, and she tucked a strand of gray hair behind her ear.
Suddenly, they heard voices from outside. George swore silently under his breath. He held up his hand for silence.
Go check it out, whispered Louise.
George nodded and crept across the floor until he came to the basement window. He took a deep breath, steadied himself, and gradually lifted a small corner of the curtain and stared out into the night. In the streetlight?s cone of light, he saw four clowns wearing their blue and white clown getup, dragging a man and his wife down the street through the snow.
They?ve got the Andersons, he whispered back over his shoulder.
Shit, muttered Louise.
They have shotguns pointed at them. Now they?ve stopped under the streetlight.
He turned his head away from the window and let the curtain fall. His aged, spotted hand ran over the top of his thinning hair, smoothing it down absently.
Maybe they just want to talk to them-
This last thought of Louise?s was interrupted by the sound of shotgun blasts.
Now George didn?t move the curtain, even just a little, to look out the window. The clowns must have shot the Andersons.
Louise stifled a gasp of disbelief.
Damned clowns, said George bitterly under his breath. They?ve taken over the entire town.
