Uriah Heep

Uriah Heep is an English rock band formed in London in 1969.

Uriah Heep belonged to the rock scene of the early 1970s and are considered pioneers of the hard rock, heavy metal and progressive rock genres.

The band have sold over 40 million albums worldwide, with over four million in the US, where their best known songs include "Gypsy", "Easy Livin'", "The Wizard" and "Sweet Lorraine". , and "Stealin'". They also have a large following and perform in arena-sized venues in the Balkans, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, Russia, Finland and Scandinavia.

Uriah Heep has released 25 studio albums of original material, 20 live albums and 41 compilation albums (including two greatest hits albums).

Thirteen of the band's studio albums made the UK Albums Chart (Return to Fantasy peaked at No. 7 in 1975), while of the fifteen Billboard 200 albums by Uriah Heep, Demons and Wizards was the most successful (No. 23 in 1972). .

In the late 1970s the band had great success in Germany, where the single "Lady in Black" was a big hit.

According to AllMusic, the album "solidified Uriah Heep's reputation as a master of goth-inspired heavy metal."

Martin Popoff, in his Collector's Guide to Heavy Metal, described the album as "a sullen, lonely, reflective kind of record existing in a fuzzy flow on the more mystical side of early heavy metal", praising the new rhythm section and Byron's performance in particular. demonstrating his "skillful control of both the subtlest contemplative moments and the loudest rock roars".
