Antique French painting dated 1845. Framework oil on canvas of great size and impact depicting a particular view of a village (Pont-en-Royans) perched on the Bourne river. Painting enriched by fishermen in the lower part and villagers intent on bringing water into the house using special pulleys (see photo). Coeval frame in wood and plaster richly carved and gilded of beautiful decoration. First canvas painting that has two old patches on the back, a sign of a conservative restoration that took place during the 20th century. Painting signed and dated L. Mellé 1845 (see photo) referable to the painter Léon Auguste Mellé (1816-1889), without authentication.
